Intellectual Property Protection
Intellectual property encompasses all forms of creativity such as inventions, software, discoveries, creative or artistic works, know-how processes and unique material.
Securing IP Rights and Protections
Intellectual Property (IP) protection encourages innovation and investment, which in turn fosters the development of new treatments, drugs and devices that could ultimately improve patient care. IP can be protected through patent, copyright, trademark and trade secrets laws.
We consult with inventors on IP matters, including technology transfer, and in partnership with Carle Legal Services and the University of Illinois Office of Technology Management to provide advice and recommendations.
Carle staff are encouraged to disclose to us any new IP enabled by their research activities at Carle or during their employment at Carle. We provide help assessing the IP for patentability and marketability. IP enabled by research studies funded by the research institute are owned by Carle.
Please read the following policies for information related to IP at Carle: AD561 and RES124.
